{"id":3121,"date":"2015-08-02T10:38:29","date_gmt":"2015-08-02T08:38:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ingcredible.nl\/log\/?p=3121"},"modified":"2015-08-02T10:47:46","modified_gmt":"2015-08-02T08:47:46","slug":"fort-van-breendonk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ingcredible.nl\/log\/?p=3121","title":{"rendered":"Fort van Breendonk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gisteren zijn Peter, Priscilla en ik naar Fort van Breendonk in Belgie geweest. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ingcredible.nl\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/20150801_112712.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ingcredible.nl\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/20150801_112712-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"20150801_112712\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ingcredible.nl\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/20150801_112712-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/www.ingcredible.nl\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/20150801_112712-576x1024.jpg 576w, https:\/\/www.ingcredible.nl\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/20150801_112712.jpg 1836w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 169px) 100vw, 169px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Het fort is begin vorige eeuw gebouwd en in de tweede wereldoorlog door de Duitsers gebruikt als werkkamp en doorgangskamp.<\/p>\n<p>In het begin van de bezichtiging van het fort vond ik het saai: kale ruimtes met dikke muren waarin wat foto&#8217;s of teksten stonden. Maar dieper het fort in werd het duidelijker : houten stapelbedden met stro-zakken als matrassen voor 48 mensen in 1 ruimte zo groot als onze woonkamer. Celblokken waar de gevangene net ruimte had om te liggen en naast zijn bed (een houten plank) te staan. Soms zelfs met voetboeien in de muur gemetseld.<\/p>\n<p>En dacht je dat de omstandigheden daar al slecht waren, in een aangebouwd deel van het fort stonden de joden barakken. En zij hadden het nog slechter getroffen.<br \/>\nDe varkens- en koeienstallen zagen er comfortabeler uit!<\/p>\n<p>Het meest lugubere kwam toen we om het fort liepen. De executie plaats met een rij boomstammen in de grond en een heuvel met zand erachter. En aan de andere kant een schavot waar drie mensen tegelijk opgehangen konden worden.<\/p>\n<p>Ik was al eerder een keer naar Auswitz geweest, maar het blijft indrukwekkend om te zien hoe de
